UPS has officially retired its remaining McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters, bringing an end to the company’s operations with the three-engine aircraft following a fatal accident in November and the subsequent grounding of the fleet.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued its preliminary findings on the November 4 crash of UPS Flight 2976, a Boeing MD-11F that went down shortly after takeoff from Louisville’s Runway 17R.

A UPS cargo aircraft has crashed near Louisville International Airport (KSDF) while operating as flight 5X2976 from Louisville, Kentucky, to Honolulu, Hawaii.
