United Airlines Unveils “Stars and Stripes” Special Livery to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
United Airlines has unveiled a new special livery named “Stars and Stripes” to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence and announced a significant milestone for its Military Pilot Program, an initiative designed to recruit aviators transitioning from the U.S. Armed Forces.
According to the airline, nearly 600 military pilots have joined United since the program launched in 2024. The carrier expects an additional 500 former military aviators to transition to the airline by the end of 2027 through the initiative.

The commemorative livery will enter service during the U.S. summer on two American-built aircraft: a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner and a Boeing 737-800. The aircraft received their new paint scheme in Amarillo, Texas. The Boeing 737-800, registered N78285, was officially unveiled, while the Boeing 787-10, registered N91007, is expected to be completed later this week.

The new design features the iconic red, white, and blue colors of the American flag, along with 50 stars representing each U.S. state. Diagonal red and white stripes symbolize the nation’s progress, innovation, and forward momentum.

Both aircraft will also carry a commemorative plaque honoring active-duty service members and veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
