Qantas To Restart A380 Services Next Week

Qantas Airways, Australia's flag carrier has recently announced the return of its superjumbos back into operation. The return of Qantas' A380s is scheduled for the 11th of this month, operating three days a week on the Sydney (Australia) to Los Angeles (USA) route, augmenting the airline's Boeing 787 operations that usually operate on this flight.

The reactivation of Qantas superjumbos is mainly due to high demand and scarcity of Boeing 787 pilots. Due to local restrictions, pilots have to go through 14 days of isolation after every international flight. Around 70 pilots based in Brisbane that fly this route have been affected.

On November 8th, 2021, a Qantas Airbus A380 (VH-OQB) took off from Dresden after 3 months of long storage and journeyed to Sydney, Australia, for flight crew training. The Airbus A380 will fill Boeing 787 pilot shortages due to restrictions in the capital of the Australian state of Queensland.

The Airbus A380 registered VH-OQB, "Hudson Fysh", will be the first to be reactivated on the SYD-LAX route and the first of Qantas' A380s to resume service after a long period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
