Qantas is strengthening its international footprint by launching two new direct routes from Perth to Auckland and Johannesburg, beginning in December 2025. These new services will operate three times weekly using Airbus A330 aircraft, adding over 155,000 seats annually and solidifying Perth’s role as a growing international hub.
Perth to Auckland (QF111) and Beyond
The new Perth–Auckland route offers more than just a direct link to New Zealand—it provides a seamless connection to Qantas’ New York service (QF3), which departs Auckland for JFK. This makes it easier than ever for travelers in Western Australia to reach the U.S. East Coast with just one stop.
Perth to Johannesburg (QF65)
Qantas’ return to South Africa from Perth opens a vital gateway for leisure and business travelers. The new Perth–Johannesburg service will also offer easy onward access to Cape Town via Qantas' partnership with Airlink, South Africa’s regional carrier.
More Jobs and Connectivity
The expansion is expected to generate new job opportunities in airport operations, cabin crew, and support services, increase connectivity for Western Australians, and enhance Perth’s status as a global aviation gateway.
Brisbane–Los Angeles: Dreamliner Upgrade
In another significant development, Qantas will introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Brisbane–Los Angeles route starting October 2025. The daily Dreamliner service will increase premium seating, enhancing the flying experience for both business and leisure travelers.
During the December–January peak season, Qantas will coordinate with American Airlines to share BNE–LAX services, ensuring consistent and flexible options for travelers.
Melbourne–Dallas Goes Daily
Qantas will also increase its Melbourne–Dallas/Fort Worth route to a daily Dreamliner service, providing greater frequency and access to one of the largest U.S. aviation hubs.
Honolulu Services Adjusted
Jetstar will discontinue its Sydney–Honolulu flights starting October 24, but Qantas will continue to serve the route with 5–6 weekly flights, maintaining strong connections between Australia and Hawaii. Meanwhile, Qantas’ recently launched Melbourne–Honolulu service will continue, giving travelers more tropical getaway options.
A380 Returns to Sydney–Dallas
Starting January 2026, the Airbus A380 will return to the daily Sydney–Dallas route, offering travelers an ultra-premium long-haul experience with First, Business, and Premium Economy cabins.
