New York-bound LOT flight diverts to Copenhagen after passenger dies mid-flight

A tragic incident occurred aboard LOT Polish Airlines flight LO26 from Warsaw (WAW) to New York (JFK) on Saturday, when a passenger reportedly died mid-flight, forcing the crew to make an emergency diversion to Copenhagen.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registered SP-LRB, had been flying for around two hours when the emergency unfolded. According to Polish outlet Onet, medical personnel were waiting at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) upon the aircraft’s arrival. Despite immediate assistance, the passenger was pronounced deceased on site.

LOT Polish Airlines confirmed the diversion in an official statement, explaining that the decision was made due to a medical emergency onboard. The airline did not release the passenger’s identity or the cause of death, citing privacy reasons.
