A K2 Airways Cargo Boeing 737-400 freighter involved in flight KTA1732 from Sharjah to Karachi has become the focus of a search operation after failing to arrive at its destination as scheduled.

GPS Spoofing in the area

The aircraft, registered AP-BOI, experienced a period of disrupted tracking shortly after departure due to navigation signal interference affecting multiple aircraft in the region. The interference resulted in degraded position data over Sharjah, prompting the aircraft to temporarily transition to AirNav Radar tracking.

After leaving the affected area, normal ADS-B signals were restored, allowing the aircraft’s flight path to be monitored again. However, during the later stages of the flight, tracking data showed significant altitude changes before contact with the aircraft was lost.

Preliminary data from AirNav Radar indicates the aircraft descended, briefly climbed, and then entered a rapid descent. The final received data point placed the aircraft at approximately 1,050 feet AMSL, with a reported vertical speed of -22,000 feet per minute at 04:21 PM UTC.

The aircraft joined K2 Airways in 2024 as part of the airline’s cargo operations.

Authorities are continuing search-and-rescue efforts, and the cause of the incident remains unknown. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
