Gulfstream Marks 700th City-Pair Speed Record with Taipei–Miami G700 Flight

Gulfstream Aerospace has officially surpassed 700 city-pair speed records, with its flagship, the G700, achieving the latest milestone. On April 1, the ultra-long-range jet completed a 7,740-nautical-mile flight from Taipei to Miami in just 14 hours and 38 minutes, cruising at an average speed of Mach 0.87.

The flight not only adds to Gulfstream’s legacy of performance but also marks a significant anniversary—50 years since its first U.S. National Aeronautic Association-accredited speed record, set by the Gulfstream GII in 1975 on a flight from St. John’s, Antigua, to Dakar, Senegal.

“The last 50 years have showcased remarkable innovation and advancements in the Gulfstream fleet as we continue to raise the bar in business aviation for speed, efficiency, range, and cabin comfort,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “Gulfstream has a long tradition of introducing new technologies and capabilities with each new aircraft generation, and the G700 is no exception.”

Since entering service just a year ago, the G700 has already accumulated more than 80 speed records—outpacing the rate set by the G650 and G650ER, which have collectively claimed over 130 records. Among those, the G650ER continues to hold the record for the longest and fastest business jet flight: 8,379 nautical miles from Singapore to Tucson in 15 hours and 23 minutes.
