Deep in the heart of Brazil’s northeastern sertão, high above the surrounding landscape of Pernambuco, one ADS-B station has been making history on the AirNav Radar network. This month, we are proud to recognize Leydson Daniel, an AirNav contributor since 2019, as our Featured ADS-B Feeder for May 2026.

His station, PGANRB500235, located in the beautiful mountain city of Triunfo, Pernambuco, recently achieved an extraordinary milestone: a historic reception range of 360 nautical miles (667 kilometers) — currently the longest ADS-B reception range recorded in Brazil.
Originally operating with a range of approximately 319 nautical miles, the station has continued to improve thanks to antenna optimizations and careful monitoring. Today, the receiver stands as the #1 station in Pernambuco and in Brazil, with the antenna installed at an impressive altitude of 1,118 meters above sea level.

Located in the municipality of Triunfo, the station benefits from one of the most unique geographical positions in northeastern Brazil. Triunfo sits atop the Serra da Baixa Verde, near the border between Pernambuco and Paraíba, approximately 405 kilometers from Recife and 380 kilometers from Petrolina.

Known as the highest and coldest city in Pernambuco, Triunfo reaches elevations of up to 1,260 meters at the famous Pico do Papagaio. During winter, temperatures can drop to around 11°C, something quite unusual for Brazil’s northeastern sertão region.
With a population of around 16,000 inhabitants, Triunfo is a small but vibrant tourism, agricultural, and commercial hub in the interior of Pernambuco.
This allows the receiver to track intense daily domestic and international air traffic, including flights operating to and from major regional airports such as:
- Recife
- Petrolina
- Juazeiro
- Salvador
- Maceió
- Fortaleza
How Leydson Discovered AirNav Radar
Leydson first discovered AirNav Radar through aviation communities on the internet and aviation discussion groups on Facebook. Interested in ADS-B technology and flight tracking, he applied to become a feeder, and his station was later approved and integrated into the AirNav Radar network.
Since then, he has continuously worked to improve the station’s performance and maximize its reception capabilities.
Advice for New ADS-B Feeders
When asked about recommendations for people planning to install an ADS-B station, Leydson shared a simple but important philosophy:
“Install the antenna as high and as quickly as possible, avoid obstacles around it, and always keep monitoring the station’s performance.”
That approach has clearly paid off, transforming PGANRB500235 into one of the most impressive ADS-B stations in Brazil today.
