Eliel Felipe has been an ADS-B feeder for AirNav Radar from Franca, São Paulo, Brazil, for the past two years. An aviation enthusiast, he continues to contribute by supplying high-quality ADS-B data that helps expand coverage and improve flight-tracking accuracy in Brazil and worldwide.

Franca is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The city is located in the northeastern portion of the state, 401 km (249 mi) from the state capital São Paulo, and 676 km (420 mi) from Brasilia. It covers a total area of 605.679 km2, of which 86.92 km2 is urban. As of the 2022 Census, the city's population was 352,537.

Antenna Location and Altitude Advantage
Eliel's station stands out due to its highly favorable location. The antenna is installed on the roof of his house, taking full advantage of the area's natural elevation. His home sits at approximately 3,300 feet above sea level, which is considered quite high by Brazilian standards. With the antenna installation, the effective altitude reaches around 3,369 feet (1,027 meters), significantly enhancing signal range and reception quality.
Equipment and Technical Setup
According to Eliel, the most important advice for anyone interested in becoming an ADS-B feeder is to use the best equipment available and install the antenna as high as possible. His setup includes the USB dongle supplied by AirNav Radar, optimized for receiving 1090 MHz signals with reliability and consistency.

He currently uses RTL-SDR dongles paired with a Raspberry Pi 4, allowing him to receive not only aeronautical data but also satellite data, including transmissions from the Meteor M2-4 weather satellite.
How He Discovered AirNav Radar
Eliel first learned about AirNav Radar through fellow students and staff at his flight school, the Aeroclube de Franca, located in his hometown. Being immersed in an aviation environment naturally led him to explore flight tracking and contribute as a feeder.
The Most Rewarding Part of Being a Feeder
For Eliel, the most rewarding aspect is hearing an aircraft pass over his house and immediately identifying which aircraft it is and where it is heading. The real-time connection between what he hears in the sky and what he sees on the map makes the experience both exciting and deeply satisfying.
