Embraer’s E190, E195 and E195-E2 Receive DGCA Certification in India

Embraer has reached another important milestone in its global expansion after receiving Type Certification from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the E190, E195, and E195-E2. The approval allows Indian airlines to begin operating these aircraft, further strengthening Embraer's position in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets.
The certification adds to Embraer's existing presence in India, where the E175 had already been approved and is currently operated by Star Air.
According to Embraer, the newly certified aircraft are well-suited to support the Indian government's UDAN regional connectivity program, which aims to improve air access to underserved cities and communities. With their combination of fuel efficiency, operational flexibility, and lower operating costs, the E-Jets are designed to make regional routes more economically viable.
Among the certified aircraft, the E195-E2 stands out as Embraer's most advanced regional jet. The manufacturer describes it as the world's most fuel-efficient and quietest small narrowbody aircraft, capable of flying missions of up to seven hours while operating from airports with shorter runways and limited infrastructure.
The certification also follows a strategic agreement announced earlier this year between Embraer and Adani Defense & Aerospace. The partnership will explore establishing a Final Assembly Line (FAL) in India for the E175 as part of the country's Regional Transport Aircraft program, further reinforcing Embraer's long-term commitment to the Indian aerospace industry.
Embraer's E-Jets family continues to see strong global adoption. More than 1,900 aircraft have been delivered worldwide and are currently operated by over 80 airlines across more than 50 countries.
In India, nearly 50 Embraer aircraft are already in service across commercial, business, and defense aviation. Star Air remains the country's largest operator of Embraer commercial aircraft, with a fleet of 11 E175 and ERJ145 regional jets.
The latest certification marks another step forward for Embraer as it seeks to expand its footprint in India, supporting the country's growing demand for efficient regional air connectivity while opening new opportunities for airlines and passengers alike.
