ATR has delivered its 1,700th aircraft, an ATR 72-600, to long-term customer Air Corsica. This delivery represents a key achievement for the manufacturer. It marks the completion of Air Corsica’s fleet upgrade from the ATR -500 series to the latest generation of fuel-efficient turboprops. This transition underscores the airline’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, regional connectivity, and sustainability.
The ATR 72-600, equipped with state-of-the-art PW127XT engines, offers substantial benefits in terms of operational efficiency and environmental impact. With a 20% reduction in maintenance costs and a 3% decrease in fuel consumption, the aircraft boasts a 45% lower CO2 footprint than similar-sized regional jets. These advancements make the ATR 72-600 a crucial asset for Air Corsica as it continues to enhance the reliability and sustainability of its services across Corsica’s four airports.
Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, President of Air Corsica, emphasized the importance of this fleet upgrade, stating that it aligns perfectly with the airline’s mission to strengthen connectivity while minimizing its environmental impact. This sentiment was echoed by ATR’s CEO, Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, who highlighted that the delivery of this milestone aircraft reflects the shared vision of both companies for sustainable regional aviation and signals a future of continued innovation and growth in the sector.
With the addition of this new aircraft, Air Corsica now operates a fleet of seven ATR 72-600s, further solidifying its position as a leader in regional aviation and a strong advocate for sustainable practices. As regional airlines worldwide seek to reduce their carbon footprints and improve operational efficiency, Air Corsica’s successful transition to the ATR 72-600 sets a benchmark for others to follow.
