Airbus and Boeing Suspend Technical Support For Russian airlines

On March 2, Airbus and Boeing announced the suspension of technical support for aircraft operated by Russian airlines and domestic Russian operators. Boeing announced blockades that extend to the US manufacturer's Moscow hub and one of its offices in Kyiv, Ukraine. While Airbus is currently assessing shutting down its operations at the Moscow engineering center.

“We have suspended major operations in Moscow and temporarily closed our office in Kyiv,” Boeing said in a statement to CNN and other news organizations. “We are also suspending parts, maintenance, and technical support services for Russian airlines. As the conflict continues, our teams are focused on ensuring the safety of our teammates in the region.”

Such a decision affects S7 Airlines and Ural Airlines heavily, airlines with Airbus-based fleets. The two Russian airlines currently own an Airbus fleet of over 160+ aircraft. Aeroflot, for example, has a fleet of 185 aircraft with 116 Airbus and 59 Boeing aircraft, respectively. Besides this, Russian airlines have suffered heavy losses due to airspace closure in more than 30 countries to Russian flights and airlines.
